Teachers and leaders are central to vocational education and training (VET). Often referred to as a “dual profession”, VET teachers require both pedagogical skills and industry knowledge to prepare young people and adults for the labour market. Likewise, leaders of VET institutions need to understand the VET sector and the labour market, and have strong organisational and pedagogical leadership skills. As the landscape of teaching and learning in VET is changing, as well as the skills that the labour market needs, VET teachers and leaders need to keep their skills up to date.
Despite how vital they are, there is limited knowledge and evidence about teachers and institutional leaders in VET. The OECD is publishing new insights into the strategies and policies that can best help develop and maintain a well-prepared teaching and leadership workforce in VET. Join us on 13 April 2021 at 13:30 CET for a webinar on the main findings and recommendations from our report on “Teachers and Leaders in Vocational Education and Training”, followed by a panel discussion with expert practitioners from the VET sector.
